POSITION SUMMARY
 
Based in Brazil, the successful candidate will be aligned with Manufacturing Engineering Team to provide engineering and process equipment support to RIM and its outsourcing partner's manufacturing operations. The candidate will be aligned with specific products and play a pivotal technical and leading role during Product Development, Introduction and Ramp up stage and go through to product mass production and end of life cycles. The responsibility will apply to products built in RIM and its outsourcing partners.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
 
The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for identifying DFM/DFA requirements, work closely with Mechanical Design and Engineering team members for problem tracking and solution follow ups. He or she will participate all proto build, prepare work instruction, build report and communicate with supplier for problem solving and process improvement.
 
The engineer will be required to develop and establish manufacturing process and deliverables inclusive of process capability, standard time, process training and be responsible for product ramp up and mass production. He or she will also work closely with production for manufacturing operation team and drive continues improvement activities, like process yield, manufacturing cost, process capability and production cycle time, etc.
 
The candidate will be based in our outsourcing partner sites for production introduction, process qualification, ramp up and process improvement support.
 
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelors of Science or Engineering Degree in Industrial Automation, Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • 3 years engineering work experience in high volume telecommunication/electronic assembly/automation manufacturing industry
  • Knowledge of assembly process, DFM/DFA with experience in product development and manufacture environment, Knowledge of production line layout, standard time, capacity calculation
  • Demonstration of Innovation and continuous improvement on manufacture cost, production yield and capacity
  • Technical knowledge on Assembly Fixture and tooling, automation control, pneumatic parts
  • Knowledge of mechanic parts manufacturing process (mould, printing, painting, tooling, etc) will be an asset
  • Skills on systematically problem analysis and solutions with application of SPC/6 sigma and other statistic/quality control tools
  • Previous experience on New Product Introduction and product launch will be an asset
  • Technical problem solver, able to work with cross functional groups and drive improvement
  • Demonstrated leadership and communications skills, Reliable, Self-driven and independent
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, ISO 9000/14001 system
ADDITIONAL ASSETS
  • Knowledge on QCC / 6-Sigma and or Lean Manufacturing is an added advantage
